It is rightly said that we live in an age of information. But it is equally true that we live in an age of DISINFORMATION and deception.
Quite often these days, we see this disinformation and deception playing out in what Jesus Christ referred to in Matthew 24:6 as “wars and rumors of war”. And quite frankly, of late, careful scrutiny of events seems to suggest that it is those who brand themselves as the “good guys” that fabricate rumors of war in order to justify their own premeditated acts of aggression upon others.
THE LATEST CASE OF ISRAEL SAID, IRAN SAID
Check out, for instance, Washington’s Blog‘s analysis of the latest Israel Said, Iran Said back-and-forth about Israel’s confirmed “massive” airstrike against Syria on May 9, 2018:
So, thus far, that alleged Iranian hit by 20 missiles against Israel on the Golan is a ghost attack, which Israel cites to justify its massive ‘response’ — which no one disputes. Was it instead simply Israel’s unprovoked provocation, Israel’s sudden and unannounced and unjustified missiles-invasion against Syria, late on May 9th? Syria’s Government claims to have fired anti-missiles against the incoming Israeli missiles, but nothing else.
Neither side is yet presenting key evidence regarding which side fired first, and which side was the actual aggressor. Are both sides lying? However, during what seems to have been the beginning of the missile-exchanges, Israel’s leading newspaper did run the headline “A Preemptive Strike in Syria”. “Preemptive” means like George W.Bush’s 20 March 2003 invasion of Iraq was. That Israeli newspaper believes in ‘preemptive’ invasion now, and so did Americans believe in it in 2003. Today’s Israelis seem to be like Americans were in 2003 — and during America’s invasion of Libya in 2011, and invasion of Syria in 2012-, and invasion of Yemen in 2015-.
“TAKE HEED THAT NO MAN DECEIVE YOU”
One of the first things Jesus said when His disciples asked Him about the signs of the end was this: “Take heed that no man deceive you” (Matthew 24:4, KVJ).
The emerging New World Order (N.W.O) phenomenon (which refers to the shadier side of Western “globalization”) is NOT just a man-made construct. There are many accounts suggesting it is driven by demonic intelligence – by Lucifer himself, via the various globalist elites and institutions covenanted to him by blood. This is the same Lucifer that deceived a third of God’s angels to follow him (Revelation 12:4a). This is the same Satan that is described as the dragon that deceived the whole world (1 John 5:19; Revelation 12:9). That in matters of geopolitics and the working of the N.W.O would include a majority of Christians.
In this age of information overload and of disinformation, there is a clear imperative to do as the Berean believers did in Acts 17:11, namely crosscheck all the information they received in order to verify it. Today, that often means that reports by government officials and mainstream media must be checked and confirmed or debunked via reliable, independent sources.
This is especially vital in matters pertaining to allegations of wrongdoing and matters of war and the employment of the means of violence. Supporting and voting for wars based on false pretexts has led to many unjust wars and unjust bloodshedding. The Iraq War of 2003 is a crystal clear example. Other examples of the use of false pretexts include the Vietnam War (see the “Gulf of Tonkin incident“), the Persian Gulf War, and efforts by the NATO to ouster the democratically elected president of Syria in recent years via allegations of use of chemical weapons by the Syrian regime. Fighting aggressive, illegal and unjust wars is not something any upright person would want to be a part of. Being party to collateral damage from such wars is not something anybody would want to reap a harvest on.
